2025 Fall Tournament – Register Today!!!

The 2025 Fall IPA tournament which will be held at the Donaldson Courts the week of September 8-12, with potential rain dates of September 13-14. 

The Tournament Committee is excited to continue this competitive event to celebrate all we have learned while playing this summer.

Registration fee is $25. Prizes will be awarded to the top two winners in each category. Registration is now open so register today!!! (Registration closes on August 29th)

Knight Point State Park – Construction Begins!!!

The Islands Pickleball Association (IPA), along with The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation, broke ground August 5, 2025 on four permanent pickleball courts at Knight Point State Park in North Hero, VT. The project is jo intly funded by the Parks Department and the Champlain Islands Pickleball Association (IPA), which raised the majority of funds through generous donations and fundraising by its members.

More than fifty IPA members joined representatives from Vermont Forests, Parks and Recreation, and installation contractor Engineering Ventures.

Joe Tyson, Parks Regional Manager reiterated support for this new addition for Knight Point. He noted that “State Parks is very good at managing our traditional activities, fishing access, swimming, hiking and picnics. This is a new opportunity for us to expand recreation options for our park visitors.”

This new facility will feature four dedicated pickleball courts with permanent nets and fencing, as well as player seating, pathway access, and nearby restroom facilities. Completion is expected by spring 2026.

“Pickleball is a sport that brings together people of all ages and skill levels. These courts will serve not only our members and the local community, but also provide opportunities for visitors, tournaments, lessons, and intergenerational play.”

2025 IPA Community Outreach

The Champlain Island communities have greatly supported the IPA by allowing us to build 10 wonderful pickleball courts for our everyday use. Now it’s time for us to give back!!! This summer the IPA is sponsoring a FOOD DRIVE for the Champlain Islands Food Shelf (CIFS).

The IPA is excited to announce a redesigned series of Pickleball Intermediate Clinics, appropriate for Pickleball Levels 3.0-3.5. The IPA will open registration for the Intermediate Clinics on PlayTimeScheduler at 10am on the registration dates.

Introduction to Islands Pickleball Association

The Islands Pickleball Association, Inc. (IPA) has the stated mission “to promote the game of Pickleball, and to provide for organization of Pickleball programs and activities in Vermont’s Grand Isle County”.  Pickleball is similar to tennis, and is played on a smaller court with a net, paddle and ball.  It has increased in popularity over the past ten years, particularly among the senior population.  Pickleball promotes increased activity, physical and mental wellness and social networking for all, which is particularly helpful in the senior citizens in the islands.

The IPA offers introductory pickleball sessions each summer. With more courts and more volunteer instructors, interest in Champlain Islands Pickleball continues to expand each summer, and IPA membership continues to grow.  In the broader view, pickleball continues to be the fastest growing sport in the nation, and accordingly, will impact the growth of pickleball in the Champlain Islands.
